Amazingly enough, it appears that the rumor mill came from a reliable source. I just found out this morning that indeed Bishop Sean O’Malley will become the new Archbishop of Boston. It appears that the Vatican has already named his replacement in Palm Beach as well. I’m glad to see this because those guys are in need of a bishop whom they can keep.
By all accounts that I have read recently, he is a holy and orthodox man. He also has demonstrated that he can clean up scandals. He does, however, need our prayers because he has a tough job ahead of him. He will no doubt face opposition from those who just want to complain regardless of whether there is anything to complain about.
