This one happened quite a while ago, but I heard this as the closing hymn at a school Mass. Although there were children present, I find it objectionable even for children. I object to dummying down the Mass for children for the simple reason that introducing silliness into the Mass only leads to a casual attitude towards the Mass. The lyrics went something like this:
If I were a tree I would be your shade. If I were the sky I would rain on you, and I’d be your umbrella, too. God covers us with a banner of love.
Sorry, I don’t have barf bags to mail you.
